Physical Education is a through-school proposition at SHHS, which means that girls benefit from the expert knowledge of a team of PE teachers.
Junior girls have two PE lessons a week and from Reception upwards, use the large SHHS sports ground.
For the younger girls, PE activity revolves around developing co-ordination, balance and ball skills. As they get older they are introduced to the rules and skills of a wide range of sports including netball, rounders, tennis, hockey, football, cross-country, athletics and swimming. From Reception, they also take part in gym and dance.
In addition to the timetabled PE lessons, there is a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities for girls from Year 1 which taken place before and after school, as well as during the school day. From Year 4 up girls have the opportunity to play in competitive fixtures against other schools.
