Enriched Curriculum

As well as specialist teaching across the full spectrum of academic subjects, weekly enrichment lessons help to expand pupils’ horizons.

Each term, all students in Year 7 to Year 9 choose from a range of exciting courses beyond the core curriculum. The enlightening Mehr Licht! programme – named after our school motto – allows students to enjoy the process of learning for learning’s sake and to develop new skills. During a double period each week, girls are free to choose from a multitude of stimulating options. This term’s choices include masterclasses in entrepreneurship and enterprise, film appreciation, electronic music production, psychology, scratch programming, photography and Japanese, reflecting the interests and expertise of our teaching staff.

Girls also follow a compulsory element: in Year 7, there are courses in developing healthy friendships and an introduction to public speaking; in Year 8 and 9, all girls study Global Issues, taking a deeper look at the international news agenda, exploring current affairs, international politics and the historical roots of conflict. Year 8 also follow a Positive Perspectives course, learning tools to help train their brains in a positive way. Next term, Year 9 will embark on First Give, a powerful new project to help ignite their social conscience and develop a moral compass.
