Scholarships & bursaries

Each year, we award a number of scholarships and bursaries for 11+ and 16+ entry. Scholarships are based on exceptional merit in a number of fields – Academic, Music, Art and Drama (Art and Drama at Sixth Form only). Scholarships vary in value but usually offer some reduction on fees. Bursaries take into account the family’s income and financial resources and may be worth up to 100% of the school fees.

Academic Scholarships are awarded on outstanding performance in the entrance examination at 11+ or 16+; all girls are automatically considered for the Academic Scholarship and no separate application is needed. 11+ Music Scholarships and Sixth Form Art, Music and Drama Scholarships are prestigious awards that require a separate application. Girls must show a particular aptitude and talent in the relevant discipline and will be assessed by the appropriate department – applicants must also meet the required academic standards in entrance examination process. For more information on the requirements and how to apply, please contact senioradmissions@shhs.gdst.net.

We are firm believers that every girl who is bright and keen should be given the opportunity to fulfil her potential, regardless of financial circumstances. Thanks to the support of the Girls’ Day School Trust bursary scheme, we are able to offer a number of bursaries each year to those that reach the required academic standards in the entrance examination. Most higher-value bursaries are awarded to pupils from families with a total annual income of less than £40,000, who have no capital assets other than their home. There is a possibility of bursary funds and scholarship awards being combined to increase the reward to qualifying pupils. For more information on how to apply, please contact senioradmissions@shhs.gdst.net.
