Entry at 16+

Each year, we welcome new students into the Sixth Form to join the girls moving up from the Senior School.

Each September we hold a Sixth Form Open Day for girls in Year 11 who are considering South Hampstead for entry the following year – an opportunity to meet our Director of Sixth Form, explore the subjects on offer and see what Sixth Form life is like. This year’s open day has now taken place, but do get in touch if you would like to arrange a private tour:

Places are offered based on the entrance examination, interview and projected GCSE grades. The expected standard is high, with offers usually made on condition of candidates achieving at least seven Grade 8 or A*s at GCSE. We offer Sixth Form Academic, Art, Drama and Music Scholarships as well as Bursary Places – for more information, please see the Scholarships & Bursaries section.

For entry in September 2020, applications have now closed. If you have already made an application, timings are outlined below. If you would like to make a late application, please contact us when you have received your GCSE results.

16+ entry for September 2020

Girls born between 1 September 2003 - 31 August 2004

Entrance examination

All girls who apply at 16+ sit our entrance examination in three subjects of their choice alongside a general paper in November. A report will also be requested from their current school notifying us of their predicted grades for GCSE. Applications from bursary candidates are warmly welcomed.

Scholarship auditions

Candidates who have applied for Art, Drama or Music Scholarships will be auditioned.

Those girls who perform well at the examination will be invited back for interview in late November.

Offers for entry are then made to successful applicants in late November, with a deadline of early December to accept.
