German Exchange

Year 10 German students stayed with their exchange partner families and explored the rich history and culture of Berlin.

Through the exchange programme, our pupils had the chance to put their language learning into practice as well as gaining valuable insights into German war and post-war history. Staying with their German host families, they experienced daily life, attended school, and practised their language skills. The group also visited the Holocaust Memorial, the Berlin Wall Memorial, and enjoyed the breathtaking views from the Reichstag dome and TV Tower.

“The Berlin exchange trip was my favourite trip I have done at South Hampstead. We managed to pack so much into the 5-day trip, including a boat trip on the river Spree, and visited the Berlin Wall Memorial and Brandenburg Gate. As well as exploring the culture of Berlin, we also managed to have a lot of time with our German exchange partners, exploring the city and experiencing a normal school day in Germany. I can’t wait for them to come back to London!” – Isabel

The German exchange is one of many international trips we offer to enable our pupils to broaden their horizons.
