Norway Expeditions

45 pupils ventured to the homeland of the Vikings for an unforgettable experience in the wilderness.

Following their training days in London at the end of term, three teams of Year 8 and 9 pupils started the summer holidays with a nine-day adventure in the Norwegian outdoors.  The groups went on epic bus and train journeys with stunning views, trekked across rocky terrains, and enjoyed snowball fights on glaciers surrounded by mountain peaks and spectacular fjords. As well as completing numerous intrepid mountain, forest and glacial hikes, the girls managed to catch the England vs Norway World Cup quarter final. They ended the trip in Bergen with the opportunity to explore the local culture, visiting a troll museum and sampling traditional Norwegian cuisine inspired by nature. Throughout the expedition, students gained valuable skills: planning, perseverance, organisation, teamwork, budgeting and outdoor cooking. In the words of one of the students: “The best school trip I’ve ever been on.” 

We recently appointed a Head of Outdoor Learning to help pupils to develop new skills beyond the classroom, enabling them to foster a sense of resilience, independence, and adventure.
