Environmental Designers

Our Scientists triumphed at a Environmental Design Competition hosted at Imperial College London.

One Year 11 and nine Lower Sixth students joined forces with pupils from schools across London and beyond to form large, multidisciplinary ‘companies’, tasked with solving complex requests for environmental proposals (RfEP). Together, they spent the day addressing real-world issues before pitching their ideas to industry experts and academic judges. This year’s challenge involved redeveloping aspects of Milton Keynes to make it more sustainable: reducing car usage, developing a sustainable growth strategy, and improving climate resilience.

Working alongside students from different schools, our two teams undertook detailed market research and tested project viability before presenting their designs and answering questions from the experts.  Team 1 (featuring Debi, Inaaya, Izzy, Nush and Tamara) delivered a compelling presentation, praised for prioritising cyclists throughout the design process, whilst Team 2 (Eleonora, Iris, Pandora Rosabella, and Sonya) were part of the overall winning team; their project included very advanced technical considerations, comprehensive research, and smart, practical solutions.  Well done to all our students for embracing the hands-on challenge with such tenacity and skill.
