Choral Evensong

Our Chamber Choir were invited to sing Evensong at St Paul’s Cathedral.

Before the service, the girls were treated to a special tour of the building, offering a close-up look at its breathtaking architecture, before their rehearsals. The service featured the Magnificat by Joanna Marsh and Psalm 23 by Franz Schubert alongside traditional responses; the choir performed with tremendous musicality and focus to an appreciative congregation, representing the school fantastically in such a magnificent and historic venue.

One of our Chamber Choir members, Sophia, commented:

‘Singing at St Paul’s Cathedral was an absolutely amazing experience – we were all in awe of the beauty and grandeur of the building and really enjoyed the challenge of singing in an acoustic setting unlike any that we had sung in before. We had rehearsed a lot in the preceding weeks but we all felt that it was worth it when everything came together in the service. Performance opportunities like this one are so brilliant because they give us insight into aspects of choral singing that we might not usually participate in, such as singing psalms and responses. I will certainly remember the experience for a very long time.’
