Eco Week

To coincide with COP30 talks, students hosted a special week to focus on the importance of environmental action.

This year’s Eco Week, organised by our student Eco Committee, involved a diverse range of sustainability-themed activities: local litter-picking and plogging; learning about food miles in the canteen; paraffin-free, eco-candle making in upcycled containers; a sustainable period product stall, with peer to peer advice; and a popular Blue Planet picnic, with pupils enjoying their ‘grab and dash’ lunches during a David Attenborough screening. At our inaugural Changemaker’s Academic Enrichment afternoon, pupils had the opportunity to spend half a day exploring topical sustainability issues and finding ways to effect meaningful change. Eco Week culminated in a habitat-themed ‘wear your own clothes’ day fundraiser for Just One Tree, who support reforestation projects in areas affected by deforestation.

Our annual Eco Week aims to kickstart meaningful conversations and inspire change as we continue to embed sustainability into our whole school curriculum and encourage pupils to become informed and proactive global citizens.
