Problem-Solving Challenges
As pupils enter Year 8, they are tasked with working together in teams to solve a variety of puzzles and challenges.
At the start of their second year in Senior School, pupil teaching groups become increasingly mixed. With their new classmates, they spend half a day tackling a range of fun, problem-solving challenges – a chance to make new connections whilst develop their ability to communicate, listen, lead and collaborate effectively. These sessions are some of the many bonding activities organised by the pastoral team across the school to facilitate team work and group bonding.
“My favourite activity involved stacking uneven blocks of wood on top of each other, just using a type of crane, attached to some ropes. Everyone had to grip a rope attached to the central wooden disc, and we used the hook under the disc to pick up the blocks. It really tested our logic skills and communication – not to mention our patience!”
“The giant marble run was so chaotic and funny. No-one could stop laughing, and it really helped everyone to bond.”
“I really enjoyed the ‘stepping stones’ activity – it was a great way to learn how best to communicate with everyone in your team.”
“It was an incredible experience and everyone loved it!”
