Science Olympiads

Our Sixth Form Scientists have excelled in challenging competitions which test their scientific intuition, logic and imagination.

The annual British Biology Olympiad is open to students in both the Lower and Upper Sixth and aims to extend their knowledge beyond the A Level curriculum. Around 15,000 entrants tackle unfamiliar topics focused on cutting edge and topical biology.  This year, 11 of our Lower Sixth Biologists were awarded commendations and awards. Congratulations to all who took part, with a special mention to our two Bronze and two Gold award winners who ranked amongst the top scorers in the country.

Earlier this term, two Upper Sixth students qualified for round one of the British Physics Olympiad; typically several thousand enter and those achieving a certificate of any colour are recognised as very able problem solvers. Well done to Chiara who was awarded Silver and Rosie who was awarded Bronze, placing them amongst the top Physicists in the UK.
