Wellness Week

Students organised a host of wellbeing-focused sessions to coincide with Children’s Mental Health Week.

Each year, our pupils arrange a week-long programme of activities to promote wellbeing and a sense of belonging. The Wellness Team launched their plans at a special assembly where they spoke of the power of kindness, with a panel discussion exploring the value of friendship, self-compassion, and helping others in the wider community.

Our Deputy Head Girl (Wellness and Peer Mentoring) commented: “We were keen to promote our school value of kindness and celebrate the strength and warmth of our school community. The Wellness Team distributed gratitude cards and encouraged pupils to make a conscious effort to acknowledge the efforts and compassion of others.”

This year’s Wellness Week also involved lunchtime ‘book and brew’ sessions, with pupils of all ages getting together to read in the library; a lunchtime wellness walk around Belsize Village, when the sun emerged after a drizzly start; sustainable smoothies, made from wonky fruit; and a lunchtime screening of Shrek. Staff were encouraged to join activities too, with breaktime ginger shots in the staffroom providing an added boost during inspection week.

Wellness Week culminated with cheerful tunes in the atrium and a ‘pop of neon’ themed non-uniform fundraiser; pupils and teachers donned bright colours to raise money for our partner charities: Spear, who support disadvantaged young adults, and Maggie’s at the Royal Free, who support cancer patients and their families. A group of girls also attended a GDST Health & Wellbeing Day at sister school Sutton High, with the opportunity to join workshops including breathwork, Flamenco dancing, nutrition, running and Tai Chi before the half term break.
