Futures Programme

Our Futures Programme provides a comprehensive framework to equip girls for life beyond school.

This term, our pupils have explored a range of higher education options, attending sessions on applying for Medicine, Oxbridge and other aspirational universities, as well as an international university roadshow. As part of our mini-lecture series in collaboration with UCL Academy, our aspiring medics heard from the recently qualified Resident Doctor, Dr Annicke Van Wyk, who provided an overview of her medical journey—from navigating applications and the UCAT to rotations and choosing a specialism. She also shared insights into her elective in a rural Namibian clinic and led an edifying Q&A covering university selection, career specialisms, and the nuances of NHS versus private practice.

Other careers-focused initiatives for our Sixth Formers this term have included a working lunch with Lazard Asset Management, which forms part of the selection process for summer work experience programme, and numerous fascinating talks with experts from a range of future pathways including as part of our Sixth Form Free Thinking Fridays. Meanwhile, as part of the GDST Leadership & Enterprise Advanced Diploma (LEAD), two teams of Sixth Formers shared their business plans at the London School of Economics; our students presented brilliantly and gained valuable experience pitching their business idea to a panel of experts.

From early in the Senior School, pupils build workplace skills, develop their CVs, and explore diverse career options. The Sixth Form Team includes specialists in Art & Art Foundation, International Universities, Medical & Veterinary Science, Music, and Oxbridge as well as UCAS, helping the vast majority of students to secure their first-choice destination each year.
