Record Results

South Hampstead’s 2026 A Level results have eclipsed previous years, with students setting new records.

Following yesterday’s once-in-a-generation solar eclipse came another impressive spectacle: our students’ best-ever A Level results. The Class of 2026 outshone recent outstanding outcomes, highlighting South Hampstead’s continued trajectory of academic excellence.

Our students achieved success across all Arts, Humanities and STEM subjects, with a quarter of the year group awarded at least three A*s. One in five students achieved straight A*s. Overall, 48% of all grades were A*s, 83% A*/A, and 97% A*/A/B. Students also excelled in the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) with 95% of grades A*/A.

Subsequently, our girls are going to some of the world’s most prestigious universities; this year, 26% of our UCAS applicants received Oxbridge offers – South Hampstead’s best outcomes in over 15 years – with all students securing their places. Our Upper Sixth leavers go on to study a diverse range of subjects – from Architecture, English, History and Politics to Engineering, Maths, Medicine and Natural Sciences – testament to their varied interests and passions.

Beyond their academic studies, this cohort has demonstrated enthusiasm, wisdom and tenacity in so many other ways, whether playing national sport, speaking at the House of Lords, winning prestigious music competitions, or spear-heading impactful social action initiatives. One of our bursary students, Sahar, who achieved straight A*s to secure her place to study Economics at Warwick, spoke of the transformative impact of her education: “My life would be very different had I not had this opportunity. South Hampstead has opened so many doors for me. I am grateful to all the teachers and wider school community who have always been there for me. I have made lifelong friends and created memories I will hold close to my heart forever.”

Head Mrs Paul offered her congratulations: “This is such a wonderful moment for our Class of 2026 and for the school as a whole. For the third year in a row, South Hampstead has achieved record results; it is particularly special to reach this milestone at the start of our 150th anniversary year celebrations. Behind these incredible headlines are powerful individual stories about the impressive talent, dedication and drive displayed by both our girls and our staff. I wish our Upper Sixth leavers every happiness for the future – they have enriched school life in so many ways, whether they joined us in the Junior School, Senior School, or Sixth Form. I am immensely proud of their achievements, and I am so delighted to see our girls embark on the next phase of their lives with such confidence and joy.”
