Chamber Music Winners

Five of our chamber ensembles entered the South East Schools’ Chamber Music Competition, with one of our quartets scooping the top prize.

This year, over seventy ensembles entered the prestigious competition. Just fourteen groups were successful in gaining places in the final – two of the finalists were South Hampstead ensembles. The finals took place this week at St George’s Church Hanover Square, with Neve, Alina, and Anabelle from Year 9 and 10 (piano, violin, and cello) representing South Hampstead in the intermediate age category; Kaelyn, Carolina, Camille, and Talia, (violin, viola, cello, and piano) from Year 11 and the Sixth Form represented the school in the senior age category. The latter performed the first movement of Schumann’s piano quartet in E flat major and took home the senior category trophy. The judges were unanimous in their decision to award the senior prize to our girls for an utterly outstanding performance. Many congratulations to both groups.
