Holistic Education

Personal, Social & Health Education (PSHE) forms an integral part of our pupils’ learning, designed to help girls to formulate views about their own lives and the world around them.

Each week, girls are introduced to wide-ranging and challenging topics, such as emotional health, morals and world economics. Alongside weekly timetabled sessions, PSHE is also delivered through form times, assemblies and whole school activities. This term’s programme has been typically full and varied, with a number of expert speakers coming to lead session for the girls.

Year 7 had a fun but informative talk on internet safety by Katrina Curtis from Education Child Protection Ltd. Previously a Police Constable, her exposure to a number of incidents provided some great insight for the girls.

Year 9 participated in a whole morning session on drugs education, with workshops delivered by Bob Tait and his team at Drug Education UK, which garnered very positive feedback from the girls. “We learnt so much about the potential effects of substance misuse – on ourselves as well as those around us… the risks, the laws, the issues. The talks were really lively and interactive and we had the chance to ask loads of questions.”

Year 11 have enjoyed several talks, including Nadia Finer from ‘Shy + Mighty’,  who helps people to overcome self-doubt and to give them the courage to share their ideas and talents and achieve things in their own unique way.  Nadia shared her experiences about how she has “figured out how to embrace my little voice, push past my fears, and tap into my hidden strengths.”

We look forward to welcoming more speakers in the spring term for many more edifying talks, helping to open doors, hearts and minds.
