Honorary Alumnae Coffee Morning

We were delighted to welcome back former staff for our first ever Honorary Alumnae coffee morning.

Many of our guests had not been back to visit South Hampstead since their time as teachers, so it was a great pleasure to see them reunite again, as they explored the new building. They were delighted to see the Burgess Room, once their staff dining room, now transformed into a beautiful multi-functional meeting and work space in the Sixth Form building, Oakwood.

Over coffee and biscuits, friends reminisced about their days at South Hampstead, with the morning culminating in a tour of the school. The reunion was also an opportunity to meet South Hampstead’s new Head, Mrs Anna Paul, who enjoyed hearing the many stories of the school over the years, and was delighted to meet Averil Burgess, Headmistress from 1975 to 1993, and Jean Scott, Headmistress from 1993 to 2001.

At the event, we also unveiled the corridor of archived whole school photos, framed by Design & Technology Technician Kay Coyle and Philanthropy & Alumnae Assistant Sophie Creswell over the October half term. Former staff spent many happy moments searching for themselves in the photos, prompting more memories and reminiscences of their time at the school.

You can view the photos from the reunion here. Our next alumnae reunion will take place on Sunday 24th March 2024 – visit the Mehr Licht Community pages for details.
