House Activities

A busy half term of activities has helped to reignite the inter-House competitive spirit back in school.

Since pupils and staff returned earlier this month, plenty of contests have galvanised the whole school community to get involved.

South Hampstead’s Got Talent event was a big hit, showcasing an impressive array of unusual skills, from hula-hooping whilst violin playing to choreographed nostril flaring. Well done to our top three who scooped points for their House: Sylvie in Year 7’s canine magic tricks; Katie in Year 9’s songwriting and guitar playing; and Eloise in Year 7, who stole the crown with her Rubik’s cube solving whilst cycling.

More House points were up for grabs on World Book Day; inspired by the TV show The Masked Singer, teachers donned an array of headgear (from cereal boxes to Spiderman masks) whilst reading a short passage. Well done to the five girls who correctly identified 9/10 of the masked readers, and to all the avid book fans who accrued more points in the House readathon. Congratulations too to our inaugural Masterchef winner, Matilda in Year 8, whose family meal cooked in lockdown was awarded the top prize by real life Masterchef contestant, James Bacon.

Girls also got outdoors as part of the new Penguin Running Club – well done to Alexandra in Year 8 and Ella in Year 11 who topped the Strava leaderboard almost every week. And finally, pupils of all ages got creative and experimental during STEM week, taking part in an array of photography and Science competitions – read more.
