Inspiring Netball

Aspiring netballers experienced a day in the life of an international player with a trip to the Copper Box last week.

Last Friday, ten of our promising young netball players were given the opportunity to spend an afternoon at the Copper Box Arena, gaining insight into life as an international netballer.  The girls had the chance to quiz two of the England Roses* – and Commonwealth Games champions – Captain Ama Agbeze and player Ella Clark, asking them how they got into netball and what their best moments have been. After the meet and greet, the girls had a session on umpiring with Gary Burgess, Head of Umpiring for England Netball. They also took part in a coaching session on the main court in the Copper Box and had a behind the scenes tour of the changing rooms. The day finished with watching the England Roses play the Uganda She Cranes in the Vitality Netball International Series, part of the England Roses’ preparations for the Netball World Cup next year. An inspiring trip enjoyed by all.

*On Sunday, the Roses were crowned Team of the Year, as well as earning the title of Greatest Sporting Moment of the Year, at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year show – positive role models for our next generation of netballers.
