Languages Evening

More than 70 linguists of all ages took to the stage for a showcase of language-inspired entertainment.

Vielen Dank/merci/gracias/谢谢 to all our performers for such a varied and humorous programme of sketches, songs and poetry. Our annual event is one of the many ways we encourage pupils to develop their confidence, creativity and talent, while celebrating the diversity of languages and culture at South Hampstead. Other opportunities include an array of homestays and exchanges abroad, as well as regular online sessions whereby pupils connect with pupils as far afield as Colombia, Ecuador and Taiwan, enabling them to practise their language skills and foster lasting international friendships.

All pupils study either French, German, Mandarin or Spanish in Year 7, as well as Latin, adding a second Modern Language in Year 8 and Year 9; all students study at least one modern language to GCSE, with several continuing to A Level and beyond each year.  Recently, we also introduced a new HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) Chinese qualification, with our students achieving a 100% pass rate in Level 3 of the internationally recognised language proficiency exam.
