Maths Challenge Success

Our Mathematicians have once again excelled in the UK Maths Trust Challenges, with some of the top scores in the country.

The national contest encourages precision of thought and fluency in using mathematical techniques. Congratulations to Ellie and Olivia in Year 9 for their Grey Kangaroo Merits, and to Lillian and Olivia in Year 11 on their Pink Kangaroo Merits, achieved in the invitation-only, follow-on rounds of the Intermediate Challenge.

In the Junior Challenge, Year 7 and 8 Mathematicians achieved 49 Bronze, 34 Silver awards and 14 Gold awards. Only students who are at the very top of the Gold level are invited to participate in follow-on rounds, so congratulations to the girls who made it through to the Kangaroo round (Charlotte, Tilly, Ava, Margarita, Grace, Olivia and Dia in Year 7 and Jessie, Juliette, Sophia, Eleanor and Hannah in Year 8) and to Chiara in Year 8 and Tamara in Year 7, who have both been selected to compete in the British Mathematical Olympiad – an impressive achievement.
