Maths & Science Success

Each year, our girls excel in national Maths and Science challenges that stretch them well beyond the curriculum – and this year was no exception.

In the UK Maths Trust’s Intermediate Mathematical Challenge, Year 10 pupil Lillian was awarded one of the highest scores in the country, securing her an invitation to a National Mathematics Summer School – an outstanding performance.

In the national Biology Olympiad, all 11 entrants from the Sixth Form were commended or highly commended, with special mentions to Sima, awarded a bronze, and Cissi who gained a silver award. Year 10 pupils also excelled in the Royal Society of Biology challenge, with seven pupils highly commended and a further 25 girls awarded medals: fifteen bronze, nine silver and one gold – congratulations to Maia.

Meanwhile, a number of Sixth Form Chemists shone in the recent Chemistry Olympiad, with three students awarded a bronze (Milly, Sarya and Yazmin), five students a silver (Alicia, Ayala, Amelie, Gayatri and Rebeca) and one student a gold. Gold recipient, Biba, wrote a paper so outstanding that it was submitted to the Royal Society of Chemistry. Congratulations to all our Chemists, especially to those still in the Lower Sixth – Amelie, Milly and Yazmin – who showed great commitment to extra lunchtime sessions and delivered such great results.
