Power of Partnerships

Numerous subject departments continue to work together with their counterparts in local state schools this term, harnessing the power of partnerships.

South Hampstead’s Economics, STEM and History teachers are among those sharing resources, teaching and learning techniques and best practice with various schools, including Michaela Community School in Barnet, St Bartholomew’s in Newbury and Hemel Hempstead School. Teachers have also been helping to conduct mock Oxbridge interviews at Sandringham School in St Albans, and recently invited girls from Chiltern Academy in Luton to join our own Year 8 pupils at the GDSTEM conference at Imperial College London – one of the many mutually beneficial partnerships activities underway.

Next term, our Sixth Form mathematicians and trained mentors will welcome Year 5 pupils from a number of local state school for our biannual Mathletics Saturday enrichment sessions. Running since 2013, the sessions deliver stimulating activities including tricks and puzzles, coding and cryptography. We are also delighted that a number of South Hampstead parents are volunteering with NumberSense – a charity providing one-to-one support to pupils in local schools.
