Psychology Researchers

Lower Sixth Psychology students have been busy participating in our annual research project, presenting their articles for peer review.

Over the course of the summer term, students selected a topic of their choice to conduct research on, analysing their findings using inferential statistical tests and writing and presenting their own journal article for peer review in a manner akin to that in the Psychological research community.  This year, despite the real challenges presented by lockdown – having to consider how to encourage participation, maintain ethical standards and conduct research in a virtual environment – the students’ work has been outstanding.

Research has explored questions such as how age and gender have affected adherence to lockdown rules, whether birth order has an impact on stress levels, if there are gender differences in personality types, the effect of highlighting on long term memory and whether the genre of music listened to while studying affects students’ ability to remember information.

“I enjoyed working in a team, conducting an experiment and writing it up.” – Rasika

“I found the overall process really interesting and enjoyable. As we created our own study, we became really invested in it and that motivated us to polish our experiment and present at our very highest level.”Zoe
