Sustainability in Fashion

We were thrilled to welcome South Hampstead parent Amber Testino to speak to girls about sustainability in the fashion world.

The director of the top fashion agency, ArtPartner, came to speak to the Eco Committee over lunch about her company’s mission to become more sustainable. Key has been ‘cleaning up their own house’: replacing paper with digital communications in their office; banning single-use plastic; composting waste; and, most importantly, establishing an awareness and culture amongst their employees. Amber focused on some of the inspiring projects around the world which are building awareness, including the rainbow-coloured Flipflopi Dhow made from recycled plastic found on local beaches in Kenya.

After the talk, the group discussed Project Zero – our pupil-led initiative to significantly reduce the school’s environmental impact by our 150th anniversary in 2026 – reflecting on the small behavioural changes that could make a big difference, from recycling outgrown clothes to thinking twice about using even so-called compostable single use items. Thank you to Amber for an inspiring talk.
