The Penguin has landed

The winter edition of The Penguin, South Hampstead’s pupil-created magazine, is available now.

The third issue focuses on the theme of dawn, celebrating what brings light to the winter months. The magazine features stunning pupil art and photography, edifying articles and plenty of typically quirky, light-hearted pieces too: illuminating insight into the Maths Department, an irreverent cartoon and a flashback to life before our Hopkins-designed building. The publication is designed, written and edited entirely by the student team, many of whom are busy revising and sitting mocks. Just like our school motto ‘mehr licht’, it promises to bring ‘more light’ to dark, wintry days – a brilliant and enlightening read. Pick up your copy from reception.

The Penguin launched a year ago; the title of the publication was inspired by our resident gold and blue feathered friends, created by Belgian artist William Sweetlove. Congratulations to the editing team – Ella, Liana, Yaelle, Sonya, Sydney and Megan – and the entire team of contributors. And a big thank you to Ms Wrigglesworth and editor-in-chief at Condé Nast, Darius Sanai, who helped with the planning and publication.
