Honorary Alumnae Coffee Morning

We welcomed back former staff to reflect on the past and look to the future as we celebrate our 150th anniversary year.

This week, our Philanthropy Team welcomed back a number of former teachers for a wonderful coffee morning.  Our community of honorary alumnae comprises teachers and support staff who worked at South Hampstead for five years or more. Among those joining was Averil Burgess OBE, Head of South Hampstead from 1975 to 1993, whose presence made the occasion particularly special, as the gathering took place in the beautiful Burgess Room named in her honour.

Our Head, Mrs Paul, welcomed guests and shared news of this year’s outstanding GCSE and A Level results, our 150th anniversary celebrations, and plans for the future.  The morning was filled with lively conversation, laughter and reminiscences as former colleagues caught up and reflected on just how interconnected the teaching community remains. There was plenty to discuss, from the special anniversary edition of Resplendens magazine, featuring decade-by-decade archive spreads, to our new wellbeing projects: an outdoor learning space on the roof terrace and a new on-site fitness and wellbeing studio.

It was a lovely opportunity to reconnect, celebrate the people who have helped shape South Hampstead over the years, and share in the excitement of our anniversary celebrations and what lies ahead. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us; we look forward to welcoming more former colleagues back to South Hampstead soon!
