Netball Masterclass

We were thrilled to welcome netball legend Serena Guthrie this week, who has earned more than 50 caps playing for England.

Guthrie, an influential contributor to England’s gold medal success at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, was recently named England captain for the Netball Quad Series.  The dynamic centre court player delivered a fast-paced lunchtime session with our Year 7 and 8 squads before leading more masterclasses throughout the afternoon for our more senior squads.

Netball Captain, Tamara, commented: “It was an amazing opportunity to meet one of the best netballers in the world and to gain an insight into what it is like to be a professional player. We were so lucky to meet someone who’s had such impact on the England netball team.”

Sports Captain Emma, who is also a keen netball player, said: “It was inspiring to have Serena coach us, especially after watching her lead England to victory against Australia. The main thing I would take away is to always try your hardest in training, to replicate match play as much as possible and to enjoy playing for your team.”

Guthrie is one of many elite athletes we regularly invite to South Hampstead to share their coaching expertise, as well as motivate and inspire the girls across a range of sports.
