Online Learning Debate

Mrs Bingham took to the virtual stage, alongside other educational leaders, to debate the benefits of online learning at Learnit Live.

High-profile guest speakers from Ivy League universities, global tech companies, governments and schools from across the world came together to discuss the ‘new normal’ for education at the five-day international event.  Mrs Bingham, a vociferous champion of public speaking, led by example and joined a debate via Zoom, chaired by the President of the Oxford Union.

The Principal of Brooklyn Technical High School and the Head of Thailand’s NIST International School argued for the motion: “This house believes that online learning was a necessary evil.” Mrs Bingham was joined by the CEO of India’s Cadmus Sodha Schools, tasked with opposing the motion. Her argument focused on the new possibilities that Guided Home Learning has afforded South Hampstead: from enabling better access opportunities for our partner school pupils, to facilitating new connections with social action projects as far afield as India and Brazil. “With imagination and innovation, online learning can be collaborative and fun… what online learning has shown the teaching profession is that we are capable of revolution as well as evolution.”
