Upper Sixth Leavers

We bid the Upper Sixth a fond farewell (for now) as they embark on study leave, ahead of their A Levels and the adventures that will inevitably follow.

The students have enjoyed a busy final few weeks at South Hampstead. They celebrated with their teachers at a roaring 1920s, jazz-themed Leavers’ Ball: South Hampstead’s very own Big Band, a photo-booth, and Mrs Bingham leading a long conga line around the flashing dancefloor were just some of the highlights.

During their last week, their sardonic retrospective assembly was a big hit, where they delivered uncannily accurate impressions of some of their favourite teachers and amusing takes on their fondest memories of life at South Hampstead. On their last day, they continued the tradition of dressing up: wearing what they plan to do next year, they sported a fetching array of outfits, dressed as medics and artists, scientists and philosophers. They also gathered in the Common Room for their farewell assembly followed by a special lunch to send them on their way. The catering team were given gifts by the girls as a thank you for feeding them so well over the years. Mr Waller’s parting advice: “Don’t see life as a competition, but run your own race.”

We wish our 2019 leavers the best of luck in their forthcoming exams and ‘mehr licht’ for whatever lies ahead – with the reminder that our doors are always open. We look forward to welcoming them back.
