Winter Music

The term ended on an uplifting note, with spectacular concerts and a Carol Service at Hampstead Parish Church amid the snow.

Over 280 talented musicians were involved in our two Senior School Winter Concerts during the penultimate week of term, with many pupils also directing ensembles.  Families enjoyed festive favourites from our Ukulele Orchestra as well as jubilant jazz, a virtuoso performance of the fourth movement of Elgar’s Cello Concert in E Minor by Sixth Form Music Scholar, Alexia, and a glorious finale from our Symphony Orchestra, playing a suite from the Nutcracker.

At our Junior School Winter Concert in the final week of term, pupils in Years 3 to 6 sang a range of festive tunes, from Santa Claus Boogie to Rocking Around the Christmas Tree, while the Symphony Orchestra performed a wonderful rendition of Fairytale of New York. The previous week, our very youngest performers sang their hearts out, performing a playful twist on a traditional Nativity.

On the final Monday of term, with London still blanketed in snow, the whole school community gathered at St John’s Parish Church in Hampstead for a beautiful Carol Service – a joyous and festive end to the year.
